The fusion of Art & Fashion…

Expression in any form is so very important. Wether that be through art, fashion, music or writing! There is something so invigorating and satisfying, seeing something you have in your mind, actually created for others to enjoy and appreciate…

I have been lucky to meet so many talented people and Shadun Layne AKA Abbastanza Collective is no exception! Shadun thank you for your time with this interview. I know you are extremely busy, so lets get straight to it:

1. Your work is very unique and creative and we are big fans. What inspires you?

First of all I want to say thank you for being fans of my work, people enjoying my work is inspiring on its own. But what really gets my creative juices flowing is travelling. The changes in surroundings and interactions with people give me new ideas I then turn everyday life into art.

2. When did you know mixing art and fashion was your thing?

I’ve always wanted to be a fashion designer but had the gift of painting/drawing from very young. As I got creative with paint I started painting on different mediums eg shoes and then I thought to myself I’ve got an idea, I thought I could paint on clothes too.

3. Do you work alone? Or is there a team?

For the most part I work alone when it comes to the art and fashion but I am slowly building a team. I have an in-house model and looking into getting more artist and designers on board.

4. Who’s your favourite designer label right now?

Right now I am really feeling Chanel just because of how sturdy they are. The foundation they have built is solid with recognisable designs but for creativity wise I wold say dopechef.

5. What are your plans for the future?

To have statement fashion show that mixes art and travel.

6. Whats your favourite piece?

My favourite piece is the Kenzo Tiger painting I did. That painting created my signature style and my use of colour till this day.

7. Fashion or Art? And Why?

Art, because art is everything. Art is fashion, art is expression and art is you.

8. What should we expect from you in the next 12 months?

A statement but can’t spill the beans just yet….

9. Whats your favourite item of clothing? And why?

A hoodie because I feel most comfortable and safe in a hoodie. When I am at home chilling a hoodie is my comfort, I paint in hoodies. I like the fact that depending on how you wear a hoodie is how you are also seen which also boils down to art and expression.

10. Whats your favourite city? And why?

Japan because I love anime and the lifestyle. The fashion is crazy. People literally dress the same or totally opposite which how’s rebellion and again expression which I also love. Individuality is key.

11. Whats the funniest thing that has ever happened to you?

Getting lost in Iceland with my mum and not being able to find our way back to our hotel. Jumping fences in the snow with thick jackets and thermals

12. What’s your one vice?

I watch anime till my eyes bleed and don’t sleep 😒

You are an extremely talented artist and we are really looking forward to seeing you grow as an artist and in your career. We look forward to the journey of Abbastanza Collective!
